I wish...

I wish that life was different...I hope for better times.
I wish I could stand strong and resolute...it is hard to take a side.
I wish wishing could make a change...to bring about the best.
I wish I could know the outcome...then press forward with faith.

But faith is the expression of hope, which is much more than a wish, neither of which have anything to do with knowing. So I should not wish, but hope, and then press forward with faith.

A man was sitting in a boat.
He had two oars.
One represented Faith.
The other represented Hope.

He wanted to paddle to shore,
The fastest way he thought he knew.
By focusing on only one side,
He abandoned the other too quickly.

After countless & painful strokes,
He wearily looked up.
There was no progression at all.
Only circles of fear.

Stuck at the center of frustration,
He cried out in anguish.
It was then that he remembered.
The second oar.

He reached out to the other.
With unison strokes, he pushed.
Steady, rhythmical, unwavering.
At last he was aspiring!

It was then that he learned;
Reaching a destination can only be accomplished, when Faith & Hope are side by side...
Working together.
